What is EDU Chain?
EDU Chain is an education-focused Layer 3 blockchain developed by Open Campus. Its stated aim is onchain education finance, shortened to EduFi, and it is aimed at students and learners.
People can use it to pick up knowledge from educational apps, keep credentials, NFTs and tokens in a wallet, play learning games, apply for education financing through EduFi, or take part in DeFi activity such as lending, borrowing, trading, staking and supplying liquidity.
EDU pays gas on the chain and gives holders a vote in the Open Campus DAO. Open Campus ID is a learning profile kept onchain, where achievements are minted using EDU. The site counts more than 80 companies and 20 million total addressable learners in the ecosystem.
How EDU Chain works
EDU Chain runs as a blockchain where EDU is the native gas token. Learning apps, DeFi tools and education financing sit on top of it, and a learner's achievements are recorded in an Open Campus ID profile, which is minted with EDU.
Open Campus's Medium page has guides for the Yuzu seasons, including Spring Bloom, introduced as a revamped return with instructions on how to get involved. A Semester 3 hackathon drew 9000 builders and narrowed to 150 finalists before winners were named. EDULand NFTs were opened for renting through a dashboard on the EDU Chain domain, and Open Campus later changed the KYC process for EDULand NFT rewards.
The EDU Chain site gives no airdrop amount, snapshot date or claim date. It does not point visitors to any current campaign, and Open Campus's Oct 2 post says EDU Chain is sunsetting while the project expands to other chains.
The EDU airdrop
The EDU Chain campaigns were seasonal programmes from Open Campus, among them the Yuzu seasons, a Semester 3 hackathon and EDULand NFT rentals with rewards. Open Campus published a guide for each Yuzu season, and EDULand NFT rewards involved a KYC step. The project's site states no airdrop amount or claim date, and it has not announced a new campaign since the sunset notice.
