What is a crypto airdrop?
A crypto airdrop is a distribution of tokens to many wallet addresses, usually free, to reward early users or spread ownership of a new token. The project sets the rules, often from a snapshot of past wallet activity.

How to claim a crypto airdrop safely
To claim an airdrop safely, open the claim page only from the project's own site or docs, use a separate wallet that holds little, read every approval before signing, never type your seed phrase, and revoke approvals afterwards.

Airdrop scams: how to spot fake airdrops and wallet drainers
Most airdrop scams try to get you to do one of two things: type your seed phrase into a fake site, or sign a transaction that lets a wallet drainer move your tokens. A real airdrop needs neither.

Are crypto airdrops taxed? What the IRS, HMRC and ATO say
Often. The IRS treats an airdrop after a hard fork as ordinary income; HMRC taxes airdrops given for a service but may not tax ones received for nothing; the ATO taxes airdrops for goods or services as income, others generally on disposal.
