What is Lighter Robinhood?
Lighter Robinhood is the Robinhood Chain version of the Lighter trading platform, where people trade perpetual futures. The docs describe the points as a thank-you to eligible traders for their contribution to the platform. Lighter also runs a separate venue called Lighter Core, and the Robinhood Chain venue is referred to as Lighter RH.
The markets are not limited to crypto. Lighter's docs mention RWA markets tied to companies that hold earnings calls, as well as pre-IPO markets and new listings. Mobile trading through Robinhood Wallet is rewarded with a larger multiplier than trading through other mobile apps.
How Lighter Robinhood works
Lighter Robinhood lets you open perpetual futures positions on markets listed on Robinhood Chain, and you connect a wallet to place one. Positions on Lighter RH can also be paired with opposing positions on Lighter Core.
The campaign pays in points. Live points are handed out in real time and depend on factors such as trading volume, positions held and fees paid. Weekly points cover activity from one Friday through the following Thursday and are distributed on Fridays, with the first weekly drop on Fri Aug 21. Activity the docs label standard-to-standard is not rewarded for either point type. Lighter reserves the right to adjust how points are scored.
Several boosts raise the total. The Robinhood Wallet mobile boost scales from 1x to 2x depending on where your volume came from. A referral boost gives a referrer 10% of the referred trader's points, and the referred trader gets a 10% boost on weekly points. Market boosts and a hedge boost (weekly points only) also exist.
Lighter has not announced a token, a points-to-token rate, a snapshot date or a claim date for this program.
