What is Mezo?

Mezo is a Bitcoin finance app that lets holders borrow, earn and spend without selling their BTC. It is aimed at people who hold Bitcoin and want to use it instead of converting it.

Borrowing works by posting Bitcoin as collateral for a line of credit paid in MUSD, Mezo's stablecoin, which Mezo says is backed by Bitcoin reserves and pegged to the dollar. Mezo also offers yield vaults run with Upshift Finance, liquidity pools on Mezo Swap, and sections for locking and voting.

Each user has a Mezo wallet that gathers their balances and collectibles in one view. MEZO is the project's token, described as a stake in the Bitcoin economy; holders can lock it for veMEZO and pair it with veBTC.

How Mezo works

Mezo works as a set of Bitcoin-based financial tools in one app. A user posts BTC as collateral and mints MUSD against it, then spends the MUSD or puts it to work while keeping the Bitcoin position. The Earn section adds three more routes: locking BTC and MEZO to receive veBTC and veMEZO, voting with veBTC to direct emissions every 7 days, and providing liquidity to pools that pay trading fees and mats rewards.

The airdrop campaign runs in two parts, called the first and second phases. Mezo's rewards page says taking part in activity on Mezo in both phases earns a MEZO allocation, and it does not specify which activity counts. First-phase recipients, Red Envelope participants and all Mezo users can connect a wallet on the rewards site to see their allocation.

Claiming is tied to TGE: Mezo says allocations become claimable at that point and directs users to its social channels for updates. Mezo gives no TGE date, no total supply and no per-user amount. After a claim, Mezo suggests locking MEZO for veMEZO and pairing it with veBTC to earn boosted Bitcoin yield.

The MEZO airdrop

The campaign pays a MEZO allocation for first-phase and second-phase activity on Mezo; the rewards page does not say which activity counts. First-phase recipients, Red Envelope participants and all Mezo users can connect a wallet to view their allocation. Allocations become claimable at TGE; Mezo gives no TGE date and no per-user figure. Liquidity providers on Mezo Swap separately earn mats rewards.
