Midnight NIGHT airdrop step by step tutorial

The Midnight Glacier Drop was a 60-day claim period in which eligible wallets from eight blockchain ecosystems could claim NIGHT tokens. The window closed at 13:00 UTC on 4 October, so the check made on 27 October 2026 finds the claim period over. Taking part meant signing a message with an eligible wallet and naming a new Cardano address to receive the tokens. A later Lost-and-Found phase is described as scheduled.

As of 27 October 2026, Midnight's announcement of 5 August 2025 set the 60-day Glacier Drop claim period to close at 13:00 UTC on 4 October, a date that has passed, and the homepage says the network is live. The Lost-and-Found phase is described only as scheduled to open after mainnet launch.

Midnight's Glacier Drop let eligible wallets on eight blockchain ecosystems claim NIGHT by signing a message; the 60-day claim period has ended.

What is Midnight?

Midnight is a fourth generation blockchain built around programmable privacy and a predictable cost model, with the stated aim of bringing real-world finance on-chain. It is meant for developers and for organisations whose workflows are regulated.

Applications are written in the Compact programming language, which lets teams use ordinary web development skills to add privacy features. Zero-knowledge technology supports selective disclosure: user data stays protected, and only what is necessary is revealed, when it is necessary.

Two assets split the work. NIGHT is the utility token, and it continuously generates DUST, the resource that pays for transactions. Use cases Midnight names include private trading, confidential lending, tokenised real-world assets and reusable identity checks.

How Midnight works

Midnight keeps a public on-chain state and a separate local private state, and zero-knowledge proofs let the two interact. An application can therefore show that a rule was met without exposing the data behind it. Holding NIGHT continuously produces DUST, the resource that pays for transactions, which is how the network keeps costs predictable.

The NIGHT distribution runs in three phases. The Glacier Drop came first: a 60-day claim window that opened at 13:00 UTC on 5 August 2025 and closed at 13:00 UTC on 4 October. Eligibility was fixed by a network snapshot covering eight ecosystems and nearly 34 million addresses. Claiming took two steps: signing a message from the eligible wallet to prove custody, then supplying a new, unused Cardano address for delivery.

The Scavenger Mine was set to follow the Glacier Drop, lasting 30 days and open to everyone without specialized hardware. The Lost-and-Found phase is scheduled to open after mainnet launch and stay open for four years, as a final chance for eligible Glacier Drop participants who missed the window. Midnight has not given an opening date for it beyond mainnet launch.

The NIGHT airdrop

The Glacier Drop paid NIGHT, Midnight's utility token, to eligible addresses across eight blockchain ecosystems, nearly 34 million in all. Eligibility was set by a network snapshot. Claimants proved they controlled their wallet by signing a message and gave a new, unused Cardano address to receive the tokens. The 60-day claim period closed at 13:00 UTC on 4 October.

Step by step: how to get the NIGHT airdrop

Kept for reference: this is how the campaign worked while it ran.

Stay safe: a real airdrop never asks for your seed phrase or private key. Use only the official links on this page, and treat any message that offers help with a claim as a scam.

  1. Step 1: Check the wallet against the snapshot

Eligibility was decided by a network snapshot of eight ecosystems. Midnight's announcement says an eligibility checker and a list of compatible wallets were offered on the claim portal.

  2. Step 2: Open the official claim portal

The announcement of 5 August 2025 gives the portal link and names it as the only official claim URL. The window ran from 13:00 UTC on 5 August 2025 to 13:00 UTC on 4 October.

  3. Step 3: Sign a message with the eligible wallet

The first claim step was to sign a message from the eligible wallet address, which proves control of it.

  4. Step 4: Provide a new Cardano address

The second step was to enter a new, unused Cardano address, which received the NIGHT tokens.

  5. Step 5: Note the later phases

The Scavenger Mine was to run for 30 days after the Glacier Drop. Lost-and-Found is scheduled to open after mainnet launch for four years, per the announcement.

Midnight airdrop FAQ

Is the Midnight airdrop still live?

No. As of 27 October 2026, the Glacier Drop claim period has ended: it closed at 13:00 UTC on 4 October, and Midnight's homepage says the network is live. Midnight describes a later Lost-and-Found phase as scheduled to open after mainnet launch and stay open for four years.

Does Midnight have a token?

Yes, the token is NIGHT. Midnight calls it the network's utility token, and it continuously generates DUST, the resource used to power transactions. The homepage lists a total supply of 24,000,000,000 NIGHT.

What did it take to claim NIGHT in the Glacier Drop?

Claiming took two steps: signing a message with the eligible wallet to prove custody, and giving a new, unused Cardano address to receive the tokens. Midnight's announcement lists no payment and no identity verification among them.

Who was eligible for the Glacier Drop?

Nearly 34 million addresses across eight blockchain ecosystems were eligible. A network snapshot decided who qualified, with minimum native token balances set for each ecosystem. Participants who missed the 60-day window are the audience for the scheduled Lost-and-Found phase.
