Pons launchpad on Robinhood Chain: how it works

By dontgetrekt · Updated · Facts checked

Short answer

Pons is a noncustodial token launchpad on Robinhood Chain, operated by Pons Labs, LLC, with its own PONS token. A creator deploys a token onto a bonding curve, and after the curve sells out it moves to a Uniswap v4 pool whose liquidity stays locked for good. As of 28 October 2026 the docs describe this v2 design, which replaced v1's pool-first launches.

As of 28 October 2026 the Pons docs describe a v2 protocol that changes how launches work compared with v1 (a curve first, with the pool created only at graduation), while Decrypt's coverage refers to Pons V1.

Pons is a noncustodial token launchpad on Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum layer-2, operated by Pons Labs, LLC. Anyone can create a token there by picking a name, ticker and image, and the platform has its own token, PONS. As of 28 October 2026 the docs describe a v2 protocol in which a launch starts on a curve and gets its pool only at graduation, a change from v1.

What is Pons?

Pons is a software interface for launching and trading tokens on Robinhood Chain. Pons Labs, LLC operates it and states that it does not hold users' assets or keys and is not a bank, broker, exchange or custodian. Tokens are issued by their creators, not by Pons, and the site says it is not affiliated with Robinhood Markets, Inc. Decrypt calls it the Robinhood Chain counterpart of Pump.fun on Solana.

PONS is the platform's own token. Decrypt's coverage of Pons V1 reported that around 80% of revenue went to buying back and burning it. The v2 docs describe a different, optional buyback that a creator can switch on for their own launch: those bought-back tokens are locked and released gradually over five years instead of being burned.

How do you launch a token on Pons?

You launch a token from the create page, which has an identity step (name, ticker, image, description and optional X, Telegram and website links) and an economics step where you choose what the token trades against. The curve opens the moment you sign with your wallet.

The form previews the supply, graduation target, creator fee and launch fee for the chosen pair before you sign. Decrypt's coverage of the earlier version describes a fixed 1 billion supply with no team allocation. In v2 the whole supply is minted to the curve, so no one, the creator included, holds tokens set aside before trading opens.

StageWhat happens
CreateThe creator sets name, symbol, image, description and links, and pays the launch fee.
TradingBuyers and sellers deal with the curve directly: each buy lifts the price and each sale lowers it.
GraduateWhen the curve sells out it closes, and what it collected is used to build the pool.
PoolA Uniswap pool is created, its liquidity is locked permanently, and trading continues there.

The pricing mechanism is a bonding curve. Graduation happens automatically inside the purchase that finishes the curve, and if that step fails, anyone can push the launch forward without the creator or Pons.

What do fees and the creator tax look like?

Traders pay a standard trading fee on every launch, plus an optional creator tax. The standard fee is shared between Pons, the creator and the buyback. The creator tax is set when the token is created, goes entirely to the creator, is capped and cannot be raised later. Pons's v2 docs do not state a rate for the standard fee. Fees are taken in the launch's pairing currency, never in the launch token itself.

How does snipe protection work?

Every launch opens with a tax on buys that starts at 99% and decays to zero across the first 5 seconds, which is meant to make racing the opening unprofitable. The wallet that launches the token and the address that receives creator fees pay no snipe tax, and a creator can list extra wallets to exempt while creating the token. That list is set once and cannot be extended afterwards.

Is liquidity locked on Pons?

Yes, once a launch graduates: the docs say the Uniswap v4 pool it moves into keeps its liquidity locked permanently. Before graduation there is no pool at all, because the launch starts on a curve that holds the entire supply and the pool is created only at graduation. This is the main change from v1, where a launch began life as a pool.

What chain does Pons use?

Pons runs exclusively on Robinhood Chain, which launched on mainnet on 1 July 2026. Robinhood Chain is an Ethereum layer-2 built using Arbitrum technology, and it uses ETH as its native gas token, so gas fees are paid in ETH.

A launch does not have to be priced in ETH. It can be paired against another token that Pons has approved, and that token then becomes the currency of the whole launch. Spending a pairing asset means your wallet first asks for a token approval, the standard step for any ERC-20.

How does Pons compare with pump.fun?

Both are curve-based token launchpads, and they differ mainly in chain, creation cost and where a token goes after the curve. The table uses Decrypt's explainer for pump.fun and Pons's own pages for Pons.

The pump.fun figures are as reported by Decrypt and can change. For another curve launchpad compared on the same terms, see Four.meme.

What is the current status of Pons?

The product is running, but its docs page carried a notice on 28 October 2026 saying the backend is being upgraded ahead of a new rollout and that launches and market data may load slowly or be out of date. The docs describe v2, while Decrypt's coverage refers to Pons V1, so details in older coverage may not match the current protocol.

Pons's site states that tokens are highly volatile, may lose all value and may have no liquidity, and that listing or ranking a token is not an endorsement. For how fake launches and drainers work in general, see the airdrop scams guide.

Frequently asked questions

Does Pons hold my tokens or funds?

No. Pons describes itself as a noncustodial software interface and says it does not hold users' assets or keys. The v2 docs add that every step is a transaction your own wallet signs and that the protocol never takes custody of tokens or funds.

Can a Pons launch be priced in something other than ETH?

Yes. A launch can be paired against any token Pons has approved, and that token becomes the currency for buying, selling and paying the creator. Nobody else can add a pairing asset, and the choice is fixed at creation. Your wallet asks for an approval before spending the pairing asset.

What happens if a creator abandons a launch before it graduates?

Graduation normally happens inside the purchase that sells out the curve. If that automatic step does not complete, the docs say anyone can push the launch forward, without needing the creator or Pons, so a launch cannot be stranded because its creator lost interest.

Is Pons connected to Robinhood?

Pons's site says it is not affiliated with Robinhood Markets, Inc. It is built on Robinhood Chain, the Ethereum layer-2 network that Robinhood brought online, but Pons Labs, LLC operates the launchpad and the tokens are issued by their creators.

Does Pons have its own token?

Yes, PONS. Decrypt describes it as the native token of the Pons app and, in coverage that refers to Pons V1, reported that around 80% of revenue went to buying back and burning it. Pons has not published that split for v2 in its docs.
