To claim or use a token on Sui you need a wallet that supports Sui, such as Slush, Backpack or Nightly, and a little SUI to pay the gas.

Sui airdrops FAQ

What is Sui?

Sui is a smart contract platform that its docs describe as offering high throughput, low latency and an asset-oriented programming model powered by the Move programming language. It runs on delegated proof of stake: SUI holders stake with validators, a new validator committee forms at the start of each epoch, and the protocol pays stake rewards at the end of each epoch.

Which wallet do I need for Sui airdrops?

One that supports Sui. Sui's get-started page says you need a wallet to use Sui apps, and lists options including Slush, Backpack, Nightly, OKX, Bitget Wallet and the Ledger hardware wallet. Keep a little SUI in it to pay gas. A legitimate airdrop never asks for your seed phrase or private key.

What is the SUI token used for?

Sui's docs give SUI four jobs: it is staked in the proof-of-stake system, it pays the gas fees for every transaction, it serves as a liquid asset for apps, and it gives holders a right to vote onchain on issues such as protocol upgrades. The total supply is capped at 10 billion SUI, and the one-year cliff on early investors' stakes ended in May 2024.

How do gas fees work on Sui?

A Sui transaction pays for its computation and for storing the objects it creates or changes. Validators agree on a network-wide reference gas price at the start of each epoch, so fees are predictable, and a user who deletes stored data gets back part of the storage fee. You can get SUI by buying it, swapping another cryptocurrency or bridging from another network.
