What is Garden Finance?
Garden Finance is a service for moving native Bitcoin between chains without giving up custody. Its homepage calls it the fastest and most cost-efficient way to do this, and its docs describe swaps of Bitcoin, stablecoins and other assets between ecosystems. Supported chains include Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Base, Arbitrum, BNB Chain and Hyperliquid, with more listed in its docs.
Garden offers three products: a swap app for individual users, a REST API with an SDK for developers, and a widget that other apps can embed. It positions itself as a liquidity layer for wallets, exchanges, payouts, onramps and commerce.
Garden says what sets it apart is that its swaps involve no custody of funds, no wrapped tokens and no outside validator set.
How Garden Finance works
Garden handles a swap as an exchange between the user and a solver chosen through an auction. The user places the first asset in an on-chain vault on the source chain, the solver checks the amount and places the second asset in a matching vault on the destination chain, and each side then collects what the other deposited. The vaults are Hash Time Locked Contracts (HTLCs). If the exchange stalls, the timelock expires and the depositor can take the funds back from the contract.
The Seasons campaign sat on top of this trading. Garden described Seasons as month-long events built around trading, with a leaderboard. Each trade earned a base score tied to the BTC or WBTC traded, and hidden multipliers could raise it. A referral bonus gave a trader 10% of a friend's accumulated score. At the end of a season, scores could be converted into tokens.
