What is Janus Protocol?
Janus Protocol is a reserve asset built around a vault of collateral and settled in fixed epochs. Its homepage calls it the first Proof-of-Belief reserve asset: participants back their view with capital and keep it in place through the epoch, and an objective result then decides who is rewarded. The project says it is not a stablecoin and offers no hard peg.
The vault is divided into two claims. Alpha (α) takes the upside and absorbs losses first. Omega (Ω) ranks above it and is paid first, so it serves as the defensive side.
Each epoch has one YES/NO market asking whether stability will persist. The outcome of that market decides whether rewards are released, and the project describes the design as free of governance levers. It labels itself experimental.
How Janus Protocol works
Collateral goes into the vault, which the homepage treats as the system's sole source of value. The depositor then divides that position between Alpha and Omega, choosing how much upside and how much defense to hold. Alpha is staked to become eligible for rewards, while Omega is what a participant uses to take a YES or NO position in the epoch's market.
An epoch ends in one of three results: YES, NO or VOID. Payouts happen only after a YES result, and only to those who staked Alpha and took the YES side. The project presents a NO position as a form of insurance for stress conditions.
The campaign itself runs on a testnet MVP on Base Sepolia (Chain ID 84532), where participants can try out epochs, the Alpha and Omega split and the Stability Dividend in a live environment. Separate Zealy quests ask contributors to test flows, and the homepage says completing them earns early contributor reputation and badges.
The homepage does not say what the reputation or badges convert to, and it gives no snapshot, claim or end date. Its early-access waitlist shows as temporarily paused.
The Zealy contributor reputation and badges airdrop
The campaign pays contributor reputation and badges on Zealy for completing quests and testing flows on the Janus MVP. Anyone with a wallet set to Base Sepolia and test ETH can try the MVP and open the quest board. The homepage does not say what the reputation or badges convert to; for now, reputation and badges are what the quests pay.
