LayerEdge EDGEN airdrop step by step tutorial

The LayerEdge Incentivized Testnet and Light Node campaign rewarded people for running light nodes that verify zero-knowledge proofs on LayerEdge's testnet. Checked on 27 October 2026, the campaign is over: Testnet Phase II wrapped up in April 2025, and the July 2025 update mentions wrapping up the EDGEN claimer window. The docs describe EDGEN on the Alpha Mainnet of Edgen Chain, which the blog later announced it is sunsetting. Taking part meant running a light node on a device.

This airdrop has ended · checked 27 October 2026

As of 27 October 2026, LayerEdge's blog shows Testnet Phase II wrapped up in April 2025 and the EDGEN claimer window closed by its July monthly update, published 13 August 2025. The homepage still describes light node rewards but shows no open campaign.

LayerEdge's incentivized testnet and light node campaign has ended. See how light nodes earned rewards, how the EDGEN claim worked and where it stands.

What is LayerEdge?

LayerEdge is a network that checks zero-knowledge proofs submitted by other systems and ties the results to Bitcoin's security, without a central party doing the checking. Its documentation places it in a separate category from layer-2 networks and rollups, describing it as a decentralized proof verification layer.

The documentation's concern is that rollups each carry their own proof-checking expense, while no common infrastructure spreads that expense across ecosystems. LayerEdge proposes one shared layer for that job.

The homepage lists AI, DePIN, added security assurance for blockchains and ZK apps as use cases, and says the project is trusted by more than 20 ecosystem partners.

How LayerEdge works

Protocols plug in the LayerEdge SDK, which forwards their zk proofs to the network on its own. The network aggregates the proofs and then verifies the aggregate.

The homepage describes two kinds of node. Light nodes need no staking: they lend a device's spare processing capacity to check proofs at random, and the homepage says they receive rewards. A full node stakes the LayerEdge token and verifies more complex proofs for rewards.

LayerEdge's blog covers the testnet side of the project. A March recap says the project launched Phase 2 of its Incentivized Testnet alongside CLI-based light nodes. An April recap says Testnet Phase II wrapped up and a Proof of Humanity system was implemented. The July monthly update, published 13 August 2025, mentions wrapping up the EDGEN claimer window.

LayerEdge's homepage and documentation front page give no per-participant amount and no snapshot date.

The EDGEN airdrop

LayerEdge's July 2025 monthly update mentions wrapping up the EDGEN claimer window, but LayerEdge's homepage and documentation front page give no eligibility details or amounts. The Incentivized Testnet ran in phases: Phase 2 launched in March 2025 and Testnet Phase II wrapped up in April 2025. No allocation sizes or eligibility formula are published there.

Step by step: how to get the EDGEN airdrop

Kept for reference: this is how the campaign worked while it ran.

Stay safe: a real airdrop never asks for your seed phrase or private key. Use only the official links on this page, and treat any message that offers help with a claim as a scam.

  1. Step 1: Read the LayerEdge introduction

The documentation introduction explains the verification problem LayerEdge was created to address.

  2. Step 2: How light nodes worked

CLI-based light nodes arrived on the testnet in March 2025, according to the blog's March recap. A light node needed no staking: it lent a device's spare processing capacity to check proofs at random.

  3. Step 3: The Incentivized Testnet phases

Phase 2 of the Incentivized Testnet launched in March 2025, announced in the blog post Incentivized Testnet Phase II Goes Live. Phase II wrapped up in April 2025.

  4. Step 4: Note the Proof of Humanity system

LayerEdge introduced a Proof of Humanity system in April 2025 to strengthen sybil resistance, described in its Proof of Humanity post. Whether it was a requirement for rewards is not stated.

  5. Step 5: Note the EDGEN claimer window

The July monthly update mentions wrapping up the EDGEN claimer window. The blog listing gives no eligibility details or amounts.

LayerEdge airdrop FAQ

Is the LayerEdge airdrop still live?

No. On the check date, 27 October 2026, LayerEdge's light node campaign was closed. Its blog shows Testnet Phase II wrapped up in April 2025, and its July monthly update, published 13 August 2025, mentions wrapping up the EDGEN claimer window. The homepage still describes light node rewards but shows no open campaign.

Does LayerEdge have a token?

Yes. LayerEdge's documentation refers to EDGEN, which can be bridged, swapped, claimed and staked on the Alpha Mainnet of Edgen Chain. The project's blog later announced it is sunsetting Edgen Chain and moving back to Ethereum. The homepage also mentions staking a LayerEdge token to run a full node.

What did it cost to take part in the LayerEdge light node campaign?

According to LayerEdge's homepage, a light node needs no staking, so taking part cost time and the use of a device. Full nodes are different: they stake the LayerEdge token to verify complex proofs for rewards.

How did light node rewards work at LayerEdge?

The homepage says light nodes receive rewards for verifying proofs. CLI-based light nodes arrived on the testnet with Phase 2 in March 2025. LayerEdge has not published a per-participant amount or a snapshot date on its homepage or documentation front page.

Does LayerEdge require KYC?

LayerEdge's homepage and documentation front page do not mention identity verification. In April 2025 the blog announced a Proof of Humanity system for sybil resistance, and its listing does not say what that system asked of participants.
