Vesting

Also called vesting schedule, token vesting

Vesting is a schedule that releases allocated tokens to a holder gradually over a set period, instead of all at once, so team members, investors or users cannot sell their full allocation immediately. Uniswap's UNI launch post of 16 September 2020 shows a typical schedule: 1 billion UNI minted at genesis and made accessible over four years, with 21.266% for team members and future employees, 18.044% for investors and 0.69% for advisors, each on four-year vesting. SEED's tokenomics express the same idea per allocation: investors 15% of supply, 7% at the TGE, a 3 month cliff and then monthly vesting over 18 months.

Vesting decides when locked supply can reach the market. Each scheduled release is a token unlock, and the gap between the tokens circulating and the full supply is what fully diluted valuation measures. Schedules sit in a project's tokenomics documents, which is where to check them.
