Tokenomics

Also called token economics, token allocation

Tokenomics is the economic design of a crypto token: its total supply, how that supply is split between community, team, investors and treasury, and the schedule on which each share is released. Arbitrum's docs give a full example: an initial supply cap of 10 billion ARB with inflation of at most 2% a year, split 35.28% to the DAO treasury, 26.94% to team, contributors and advisors, 17.53% to investors, 11.62% to users by airdrop, 7.5% to the Arbitrum Foundation and 1.13% to DAOs. Hamster Kombat's whitepaper fixed the HMSTR supply at 100 billion and said 60% of the airdrop's volume would go to players.

Plans can change after launch. SEED's tokenomics page lists community rewards at 62% of a 1 billion supply, then an "Actual Implemented" figure of 77.78%, and investors at 15% with 2.84% actually implemented. For an airdrop hunter, the useful questions are what share goes to users, what goes to insiders and when each share unlocks; see vesting and token unlock.
