ZKsync ZK airdrop step by step tutorial
The ZK Token Airdrop, branded MOAD: The Mother of All Drops, handed ZK tokens to 695,232 wallets as a 17.5% airdrop. The ZK Nation docs set the claim deadline at 3 January 2025, so the distribution was closed when checked on 29 October 2026. Taking part meant holding an eligible wallet at the 24 March 2024 snapshot, through ZKsync activity or a recognized contribution, and then claiming the tokens.
This airdrop has ended · checked 29 October 2026
As of 29 October 2026, the ZK Airdrop page in the ZK Nation docs lists 3 January 2025 as the end of the ZKsync user claim window, and the token announcement gives the same deadline, so the distribution is over.
How the ZKsync ZK token airdrop (MOAD) worked: a 17.5% airdrop to 695,232 wallets after a March 2024 snapshot, now closed to new claims.
What is ZKsync?
ZKsync is a ZK rollup built to scale Ethereum with verifiable proofs, and its team calls it Ethereum's first zkEVM chain. Its original chain is ZKsync Era, and the project describes a growing set of interconnected ZK chains around it.
Those chains are made with the ZK Stack, a modular framework for customizing and deploying interoperable ZK-powered blockchains. It is aimed at builders who want their own chain that stays connected to the rest of the network.
The protocol is run by ZK Nation, a community of individuals, organizations and technologies that governs, defends and grows ZKsync. Holders of the ZK token take part by introducing and voting on protocol upgrades, and the token can also pay network fees through ZKsync's native account abstraction.
How ZKsync works
ZKsync chains are deployed with the ZK Stack, a toolkit for building interoperable ZK-powered blockchains. Governance sits with ZK token holders, who can propose and vote on upgrades, either directly or by delegating their voting rights to a representative.
The ZK airdrop was decided by a snapshot of activity on ZKsync Era and ZKsync Lite, taken on 24 March 2024 at 0:00 UTC. A wallet first needed at least one point from the eligibility criteria. Its allocation then scaled with the value it had bridged to ZKsync Era and how long that value stayed, with assets working in DeFi counted at double. Multipliers and a sybil filter came next. Final amounts ran from a floor of 450 ZK up to a cap of 100,000 ZK, and once leftover tokens were redistributed the smallest allocation became 917 ZK.
A second route covered contributors, who received 11% of the airdrop for development, advocacy or education work whatever their use of the network. Claiming ran until 3 January 2025, and ZKsync's account abstraction made the claim transaction free of gas.
The ZK airdrop
The airdrop paid ZK tokens, a 17.5% share of supply sent to 695,232 wallets. Wallets qualified either as ZKsync users, by showing enough activity on ZKsync Era or ZKsync Lite before the 24 March 2024 snapshot, or as contributors who built, researched or taught around ZKsync. Individual amounts ran from 450 ZK to 100,000 ZK, and the claim window closed on 3 January 2025.
Step by step: how to get the ZK airdrop
Kept for reference: this is how the campaign worked while it ran.
Stay safe: a real airdrop never asks for your seed phrase or private key. Use only the official links on this page, and treat any message that offers help with a claim as a scam.
Step 1: Use ZKsync before the snapshot
Eligibility came from activity on ZKsync Era or ZKsync Lite up to 24 March 2024 at 0:00 UTC. A wallet needed at least one point from the eligibility criteria, which are listed on the ZK Airdrop docs page.
Step 2: Or qualify as a contributor
Developers, researchers, educators, communities and companies who contributed to ZKsync could qualify without network activity. GitHub developers and Discussion Helpers had to link their address to their handle before claiming.
Step 3: Check eligibility on the claim site
ZK Nation pointed eligible people to its claim site to see whether a wallet qualified. The ZK token announcement names the official channels to follow for claim news.
Step 4: Claim the ZK tokens
Eligible wallets claimed before 3 January 2025, and claiming was gas free through native account abstraction. The deadline has passed, so this step can no longer be completed.
Step 5: Delegate your voting power
Once claimed, ZK holders could self-delegate or hand voting rights to a representative through the ZK Nation delegate portal.
ZKsync airdrop FAQ
Is the ZKsync airdrop still live?
- No. As of 29 October 2026 the ZK airdrop has ended: the ZK Nation docs give 3 January 2025 as the end of the ZKsync user claim window, and eligibility was fixed by a snapshot taken on 24 March 2024. The docs describe this single distribution, so there is nothing left to claim.
What token did the ZKsync airdrop pay?
- It paid ZK, the protocol token of ZKsync. ZK holders can introduce and vote on protocol upgrades and pay network fees, and the airdrop covered 17.5% of supply across 695,232 wallets. Amounts for users ran from a minimum of 450 ZK to a cap of 100,000 ZK per address.
Did claiming the ZK airdrop cost anything?
- Claiming itself was gas free, because ZKsync's native account abstraction covers the transaction. Qualifying meant earlier activity on ZKsync Era or ZKsync Lite, which carried its own network costs at the time. The docs also block listed jurisdictions and people residing in the United States.
Which chain was the ZKsync airdrop based on?
- Eligibility was measured on ZKsync Era and ZKsync Lite, using a snapshot taken on 24 March 2024. The ZK token contract is linked from the ZK Nation docs on an explorer for ZKsync Era. Contributors could also qualify through work outside either chain.
