Kaito defines Mindshare as a metric that puts a number on how prominent a project is within the overall crypto market. Kaito reports it through Token Mindshare and Narrative Mindshare in Kaito Pro, and in its Mindshare Arena. Its Yap FAQ defines the term in the same glossary as Yaps, the points Kaito awards for quality crypto discussion on X, which are used for wallet lists and Yapper Launchpad votes.
What does mindshare mean in crypto?
In Kaito's own wording, mindshare is a number for the prominence of one specific project within the overall crypto market. The definition appears in the glossary of Kaito's Yap FAQ. Mindshare is a metric, not a product you sign up for, and Kaito's pages give no other definition of it.
What does Kaito Pro offer for tracking mindshare?
Kaito Pro, described in the Kaito Pro documentation, offers two mindshare tools. It indexes social media, governance forums, Farcaster, Telegram, Medium and transcripts from podcasts and conferences. The documentation says its datasets are continuously updated and give real-time insights into mindshare and sentiment changes.
| Tool | What Kaito says it does |
|---|---|
| Token Mindshare | Monitors and benchmarks mindshare changes over time, across the market or one sector |
| Narrative Mindshare | Tracks narrative rotations and the momentum of existing narratives, and flags upcoming ones |
Kaito does not publish a formula for Mindshare in the Yap FAQ or in the Kaito Pro documentation, and neither says how sources are weighted.
Where does Kaito show mindshare?
The Mindshare Arena appears in the navigation of Kaito's site as of 28 October 2026, with Top Voices and Top Companies sections. The Top Voices boards are split by vertical (stock trading, AI and crypto), and each row lists an account with its current mindshare as a percentage plus changes over several time windows. The same page offers breakdowns by sector and by region.
So the word is not limited to projects: accounts get a mindshare figure too. Kaito Studio, the company's tool for matching brands with creators, is described as built on Kaito's mindshare graph.
How do Yaps relate to Mindshare?
Yaps are points that Kaito awards for taking part in crypto discussion, and the Yap FAQ defines Mindshare in the same glossary as Total Yaps and Smart Followers. Kaito says Yaps come from real, high-quality, relevant participation, weighted by reputation, and that they are not meant to be easy to earn or based on volume alone.
Several rules shape what counts:
- A tweet earns Yaps inside a rolling window, which Kaito ties to the 24 hours tweets typically stay on timelines.
- Kaito uses an LLM filter to exclude low-effort content, spam included.
- Content in other languages carries the same weighting as English.
- Kaito's AI also judges whether an X account represents an entity or an individual.
Total Yaps combines Earned Yaps and Referral Yaps. For the general mechanics of points, see the points program glossary entry and the guide to airdrop points programs. Kaito does not state a conversion from a project's Mindshare figure to any reward.
How does mindshare tie into airdrops?
Kaito's pages connect Yaps to reward distribution, not a project's Mindshare score, and Kaito does not say that a high Mindshare figure earns anyone a reward. Two routes mention Yaps:
- Partner wallet lists. Users can enter a wallet in Yaps. Kaito may use it, or share it with partners as an anonymized list without X handles, only for the partners' own reward distribution. The FAQ gives examples such as a project's top Yappers on its leaderboard, or voters on the Yapper Launchpad. Wallets can be removed or changed at any time.
- Yapper Launchpad votes. Kaito's community decides which Yapper Leaderboard launches next. Yappers vote with Yaps and Smart Followers; holders vote with Genesis NFTs and KAITO through sKAITO.
The Capital Launchpad is a separate product. Kaito says it lets projects direct access toward contributors who shape attention, narrative and adoption, and its pages do not tie it to Yaps. Kaito's navigation also lists an Airdrops page. For how distributions of this kind usually decide who qualifies, see the airdrop glossary entry and the guide to airdrop eligibility.
How does the Yapper Launchpad pick projects?
The Yapper Launchpad picks projects by community vote, and the voting period closes on set weekdays. Per Kaito's launchpad FAQ, votes close on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The project with the highest total votes at each close launches its Yapper Leaderboard 7 days later.
Holders and Yappers both vote, with their votes counted together as a total. The launchpad is built to start with pre-TGE projects, a stage where Kaito says information asymmetry can be greatest. When it was read on 28 October 2026, the launchpad FAQ said it had last been updated a year earlier, so the voting schedule may have changed since.
Frequently asked questions
Do you have to tag Kaito to earn Yaps?
- No. Kaito states a tweet does not need to tag Kaito to qualify, and it says all eligible crypto-related discussions count, with no particular project or topic overweighted. Kaito also says X authentication is only needed at first onboarding to verify account ownership, not kept connected afterwards.
Are Yaps awarded for posts in languages other than English?
- Yes. Kaito says its language model understands regional languages, that content other than English has already been earning Yaps, and that weighting is the same as for English. It also says it is looking at regional models to capture cultural nuances.
What are Smart Followers?
- Smart Followers are a set of Crypto Twitter accounts with the highest inter-following ratios in the CT social graph, which Kaito maintains through algorithms. Yappers use them, alongside Yaps, to vote on the Yapper Launchpad.
Can you remove your wallet from Yaps after adding it?
- Yes. Kaito says you can remove or change an entered wallet at any time. Wallets that stay on file may be used by Kaito or shared with partners as an anonymized list, without X handles, solely for those partners' own reward distribution.
Why might an account show zero Yaps?
- Kaito lists several reasons: a tweet's cumulative eligible engagement may fall below its threshold, its language model may not have scored the content as insightful or original, or the posts may only repeat buzzwords without context. Kaito says it weights reputation-based impact, not raw impressions.
