What is Vana?
Vana is a data network aimed at AI that works from real people's own information. People connect their own accounts, set permissions as narrow as a single record, withdraw them whenever they choose, and let the apps and AI systems they pick use the data, with value returning to the person it came from.
The new Vana App, released on 15 October 2026, is the tool people use for this. It works as an intermediary between a person and the apps that want their data: each request is put to the person for approval, and every approved transfer is logged.
Vana is operated by a group of independent operators instead of one company, with the Vana Foundation named as its neutral steward.
How Vana works
Vana moves data in four stages: a person connects accounts, consents to specific permissions, lets the apps or AI systems they choose use the data, and receives value back as the source. When an app asks for data, the Vana App names the app, the source and exactly what is wanted, and nothing moves until the person approves. The data is saved to the person's own Personal Server and passed to the app, the permission is recorded, and it can be taken back at any time.
Network upkeep is paid for by usage. Reads of personal data produce fees; operators receive their share in VANA, which the network uses as its token, and the remainder funds further development.
The campaign is the Vana community programme. It runs at the community site, where users log in to see their XP and earn more. XP carries over, and unclaimed XP does not expire. In the 15 October 2026 post, trying OpenPet is listed as earning 50 XP that week and posting about OpenPet on X as earning another 50 XP. OpenPet works from sleep, readiness and activity data of an Oura Ring, connected through the Vana App. Vana has not said what XP converts to, and it has announced no snapshot, claim date or end to the programme.
The XP airdrop
The campaign pays XP points. Vana has a network token, VANA, but has not said that XP converts into it. Logging in at the community site shows an XP balance; the 15 October 2026 post names two OpenPet actions for that week, trying the app (50 XP) and posting about it on X (another 50 XP). Trying OpenPet uses Oura Ring data connected through the Vana App. No snapshot or claim date has been announced.
Step by step: how to get the XP airdrop
Stay safe: a real airdrop never asks for your seed phrase or private key. Use only the official links on this page, and treat any message that offers help with a claim as a scam.
Step 1: Log in at the Vana community site
Open community.vana.org and log in. This is where the Vana community programme now runs.
Step 2: Check your XP balance
Your XP is shown after login, and XP you already hold carries over. Vana says unclaimed XP does not expire.
Step 3: Try the OpenPet actions named in the post
Vana's 15 October 2026 post says that week, trying OpenPet earned 50 XP and posting about OpenPet on X earned another 50 XP. The OpenPet task works from sleep, readiness and activity data of an Oura Ring connected through the Vana App. No fee is mentioned, but the task assumes that ring data.
Step 4: Try the Vana App
The Vana App on the App Store shows what an app is asking for and lets you approve or refuse before any data moves.
