Tap-to-earn

Also called T2E, tap game, clicker game

Tap-to-earn is a type of crypto game, usually a Telegram mini app, where players tap the screen and do simple tasks to collect in-game coins that may later convert into tokens. Decrypt called Hamster Kombat a Telegram-based tap-to-earn game when its airdrop ran in September 2024, and named Yescoin, TapSwap, Catizen, PixelTap and W-Coin as games echoing its design, all following Notcoin. Hamster Kombat's own whitepaper says the game launched on 26 March 2024 and had players grow a coin balance and complete daily combos and ciphers, so they did not need to spend their days tapping.

The coins are game points, and the project decides what they become. Hamster Kombat fixed the HMSTR supply at 100 billion and said 60% of the airdrop's volume would go to players; Decrypt reported that 131 million players qualified and that many who complained said their HMSTR was worth less than $10. On AirdropStop, Hamster Kombat and SEED Combinator are tap or mini-app games on TON. See Telegram tap-to-earn airdrops explained.
