Cypher CYPR airdrop step by step tutorial

The Cypher airdrop was a spend-rewards campaign that paid CYPR tokens on Base to people who made purchases with a Cypher crypto card. The campaign is closed: its final rewards distribution was on 16 July 2026, and the platform is sunsetting after its acquisition by Nium. Taking part meant spending with the card and claiming the rewards in the Cypher app.

As of 1 November 2026, Cypher's homepage says the platform is sunsetting after the Nium acquisition and marks the 16 July 2026 final rewards distribution as done. The CYPR token page says spending after that date earns no CYPR.

Cypher paid CYPR tokens on Base for spending with its crypto card; the final rewards distribution was 16 July 2026 and the platform is shutting down.

What is Cypher?

Cypher is a crypto card and wallet platform that lets people spend digital assets with a card and receive CYPR tokens back on eligible purchases. Its pages describe a consumer app, a dApp and a business card platform, with the CYPR token running on Base.

Beyond the consumer card, Cypher also offered Agent Pay, which gives AI agents one-time virtual VISA cards for online payments. The token page set its rewards apart from credit card points by saying CYPR is a real token on Base that holders can keep, stake or trade.

Cypher has since been acquired by Nium. The homepage now announces that the current platform, including the consumer app, the business card platform and the CYPR ecosystem, is being wound down.

How Cypher works

Cypher worked as a card tied to crypto. A cardholder spent with it on purchases, and that spending generated token emissions that were paid out as rewards. The token page describes the loop as spenders earning CYPR on eligible transactions, then optionally depositing CYPR into veCYPR to gain booster power.

Boosters could direct emissions toward merchants they liked, and merchants could add bonus rewards to attract more spending and votes. The token page gives no fixed reward rate per purchase.

The rewards ran in cycles. The homepage shows that spend rewards earned between 2 and 16 July 2026 were distributed on 16 July 2026, and it calls this the final rewards cycle, with no further distributions after it.

Claiming happened in the Cypher app. The token page told holders to claim before 6 September 2026, and the homepage says the withdrawal window and rewards claims close with the platform shutdown on that date, when the CYPR protocol is permanently wound down.

The CYPR airdrop

The campaign paid CYPR, a token on Base, as spend rewards for eligible purchases made with a Cypher card. Cardholders earned emissions as they spent and could deposit CYPR into veCYPR to steer emissions toward chosen merchants. The last cycle covered spend rewards earned between 2 and 16 July 2026, distributed on 16 July 2026. Claims in the app closed with the platform shutdown on 6 September 2026.

Step by step: how to get the CYPR airdrop

Kept for reference: this is how the campaign worked while it ran.

Stay safe: a real airdrop never asks for your seed phrase or private key. Use only the official links on this page, and treat any message that offers help with a claim as a scam.

  1. Step 1: Get a Cypher card

Rewards came from spending with a Cypher card. New card applications and card issuance ended when the wind-down began.

  2. Step 2: Spend with the card

Each eligible purchase made with the card generated CYPR emissions as a reward, as the CYPR token page describes.

  3. Step 3: Optionally deposit CYPR into veCYPR

Holders could deposit CYPR into veCYPR to become a Reward Booster and direct emissions toward merchants they liked.

  4. Step 4: Claim CYPR in the Cypher app

Earned rewards were claimed in the app or dApp. The homepage lists claiming CYPR rewards among the steps before the 6 September 2026 shutdown.

Cypher airdrop FAQ

Is the Cypher airdrop still live?

No. As of 1 November 2026, the Cypher CYPR spend rewards campaign has ended. The final rewards distribution took place on 16 July 2026, the CYPR token page says spending after that date earns no CYPR, and the homepage says the platform is sunsetting after the Nium acquisition.

What is the CYPR token?

CYPR is the token Cypher paid as spend rewards, and its token page says it runs on Base. The page also says it does not expire and can be held, staked or traded. The homepage adds that the CYPR protocol is to be permanently wound down on 6 September 2026.

What did it cost to earn CYPR?

Earning CYPR required spending with a Cypher card, so rewards came from purchases you made yourself. The token page lists no separate sign-up fee or deposit for earning. Depositing CYPR into veCYPR was an optional extra for boosting merchants.

Did Cypher require KYC?

Cypher's card accounts appear to have involved identity checks. The wind-down help center includes an article titled "Will my KYC information be transferred to Nium?", which points to KYC being held for cardholders. The token page itself does not describe the verification steps.

How were CYPR rewards claimed?

Rewards were claimed inside the Cypher app. The token page told holders to claim before 6 September 2026, and the homepage says rewards claims close with the platform shutdown on that date, so no claim route is described after it.
